Abirami Kaliyaperumal was born and raised in India, and currently resides in Hannover, Germany. Her educational background includes bachelors in dentistry, a post-graduate diploma in clinical research from India, and a masters in public health from Umea University, Sweden. In 2021, she joined Wellness for Greatness as a Project Associate under the project ‘Obesity Sensitization,’ and ‘Wildlife Conservation Physical Activity Handbook.’
Before joining the organization, Abirami apprenticed in Global Health Mentorship Program (GHMe) in Copenhagen, Denmark as Student and Young Professionals (SYPs) under global health experts to develop skills, and competencies in global health topics, volunteered in Indian NGO under Addiction Research Group team where she generated Covid-19 survey report, and conducted systematic review for non-communicable disease (NCD) research, worked as a Clinical Research Coordinator under stroke research project at hospital in India where she acquired experience in planning, and managing independent stroke research project, assisted Principal Investigator in writing research grants, and gained experience in writing scientific manuscript for publication, worked as a tobacco control project Intern in a public health institute, India where she gained experience in qualitative data collection, analysis, under the project team Chronic Health Conditions, served as a Junior Dentist in private dental clinic in India.
Abirami is passionate about public health and interested in contributing to public health issues through her research skills, and experience. Abirami’s research interests include Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), Mental Health, Oral Health, and Tobacco Control.
