Agriculture & Healthy Living

One major source of non-communicable diseases has been attributed to food and eating habits. People need to be health-conscious and informed to change their food choices and eating patterns and limit the consumption of highly processed foods that are high in fat, sugar, and/or salt. We need to rediscover the importance of fresh seasonal produce, cooking skills, traditional knowledge, and organic foods.

The project envisages:

  • To introduce the farming of nutritious foods activities to school going children, teachers, parents, and communities;
  • To strengthen the 4-K clubs and Scouts in schools by training and empowering them with some innovative farming skills.
  • To create awareness through teachers and parents on healthy foods so as the children learn about growing safe and healthy foods;
  • To teach proper agricultural techniques that are safe and sustainable.
